HITACHI ELECTRONIC DEVICES (USA), INC. (HEDUS) has been a market leader for Video Display Devices and a technology show case and supplier for emerging display technologies developed by HITACHI such as IPS TFT LCD, Ultra wide temperature range displays and long life ultra high brightness LED backlights and this tradition will continue at KOE Americas. HEDUS officially opened 1990 as a manufacturer of Color Picture Tubes for the consumer television market in North and South America, and as a global supplier of Projection TV tubes. HEDUS can trace its roots back to the early 1980’s when the Electron Tube Division of Hitachi America Ltd., was formed in Chicago IL. In the late 1980’s Hitachi began to experiment with a new flat panel display technology called TFT and was one of the pioneering manufacturers of the technology. The Electron Tube Division was responsible for sales and support of those Japanese produced display products and devices for the U.S. market. Hitachi LCDs have led the industry with firsts ever since. The first commercially available passive monochrome, TFT and in –plane switching LCD architecture (IPS®) products were produced by Hitachi.
